An ambitious land‑based aquaculture project combining large‑scale production with advanced flow‑through technology and a strong focus on sustainability.
Salmon Evolution AS established the company in 2017 with a clear ambition to develop sustainable land‑based salmon farming. The first facility is under construction at Indre Harøy in Hustadvika municipality, Møre og Romsdal, and ranks among the largest land‑based aquaculture facilities in Europe.
Construction began in May 2020 and follows a three‑phase development plan. The first phase reached completion in 2022. Once fully developed, the facility will produce up to 36,000 tonnes of salmon per year, with 9,000 tonnes delivered in the initial phase.
The strategic location provides favorable conditions for efficient land‑based aquaculture technology. Salmon Evolution uses a hybrid flow‑through system (HFS) that ensures continuous intake and replacement of large volumes of clean seawater from the Norwegian coast. This solution delivers stable production conditions and builds on the natural resources that have supported Norwegian salmon farming for decades.
SIMONA Stadpipe entered into a contract with EPC contractor Artec Aqua for Phase 1 at Indre Harøy. The scope includes engineering, production, delivery, and installation of complete piping systems and components.
The project primarily uses PE 100 piping, which accounts for approximately 95% of all pipes and fittings. In addition, SIMONA Stadpipe supplies several custom‑engineered special products for the aquaculture industry. The solution handles large water volumes and supports continuous operation with high reliability and long service life.
