A groundbreaking RAS project designed for large‑scale production, high biosecurity, and efficient use of resources
In Rjukan, Telemark, Hima Seafood is developing what is expected to become the world’s largest land‑based trout farming facility. The facility will produce approximately 9,000 tonnes of trout in freshwater and is based on advanced RAS technology supplied by Eyvi. The solution provides strong operational control, low environmental impact, and sustainable production.
Hima Seafood has worked on planning the land‑based facility for nearly ten years. In August 2022, construction of the large‑scale facility began. The plant is designed for an annual production of around 8,000 tonnes of trout. Water is supplied from Lake Tinnsjøen through an approximately 11‑kilometre pipeline.
All production systems are housed in a building covering around 27,000 m², distributed over two levels. Once completed, the building will rank among the largest structures in Telemark.
SIMONA Stadpipe holds a contract with Eyvi for engineering, delivery, and installation of the complete piping system at the Rjukan facility. The delivery includes approximately 21,000 metres of pipe in dimensions ranging from 50 mm to 1,400 mm, as well as around 1,200 valves from 50 mm to 1,200 mm.
SIMONA Stadpipe supplies a turnkey process piping system, including installation. Around 95% of the pipes and fittings are manufactured in PE 100, complemented by custom‑engineered special products developed for the aquaculture industry. The solution is designed to handle large water volumes and support stable, continuous operation over time.
